Testing & Commissionig team of Amithi Power Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. has conducted primary injection test on Air Circuit Breakers (ACB) and Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB) at an industrial premise in Nittambuwa. (12/04/2022)

During Primary Injection Test, we verified the desired operation/response of overcurrent protective devices (ACB, MCCB, MCB) by injecting a simulated overcurrent through main poles of the device.

The instrument is capable of injecting a primary current up to 9500 A (9.5 kA). It is also equiped an automatic trip time calculator (Accurate up to 1 milli second) with a hand held display which is one of the best instruments available in Sri Lankan Electrical Industry.

What makes this testing process complex is that to have power interruptions and make/remove breaker connections. But yeah, still it’s way easier than discarding of millions worth electrical components, facing catastrophic failures production lines or losing a valuable life of a member from someone’s family.

I shall take this moment to appreciate the Maintenance Engineers, Facility Managers who were wise enough to enlighten their Directors, Managers from upper hierarchy, for explaining the severity of compromising the electrical safety.
